Housing
Homes built from what others throw away
Homes built from recycled and salvaged materials, raised by the congregation's own hands, with trained members and a trades crew, so families can live without the weight of debt.
The first funds buy tools, safety equipment and a secure place to store salvaged materials, and pay for the training and permits a first small home needs.
A roof is where a family's faith is lived every day. We will house our own, and we will teach others how.
In plain words
The plan
The founder's step-by-step method for building with recycled materials is being written into the free guide.
Salvage
Lumber, windows, doors, fixtures and more are collected from demolitions, donations and reuse centres, sorted and stored safely.
Start small
The first builds are small homes and additions, within the sizes and rules our state already allows, with every permit in order.
A trades crew
Members learn carpentry, plumbing and wiring from licensed tradespeople. The crew becomes one of the Fellowship's mission businesses, and its workers become its owners.
Partners
Where it makes sense, we build alongside established housing charities rather than alone, and we learn from them.
Building a Home from Recycled Materials
The complete step-by-step guide as a free PDF, written so that any community can follow it. It appears here the day it is finished.
Learn by watching
Salvaging safely, framing, finishing, passing inspection. Made in house, free, and paired with the guide.
- Donate sound building materials
- Teach a trade, or learn one
- Lend tools, a truck or storage space
- Tell us about a site or a family in need
Everything we learn goes into the free guide and the workshop videos. When they are ready, any congregation, church, school or neighbourhood may take them and build the same thing, with our blessing and without asking.
